PMO Mini-Masterclasses are our evenings of more structured yet informal learning sessions.
Lectures, workshops, seminars – you name it, we do it on our Mini-Masterclass nights. We also record the vast majority of these so you don’t miss out of you can’t make them in person.
These sessions focus on a particular PMO topic area; often feature a guest speaker and include interactive sessions for participants to get involved and learn something new – all in two hours in an evening.
In this session, we take a look at the Service-Based PMO
The Service-Based PMO
Times are changing for the PMO - PMOs are moving from providing generic support to projects and programmes – what kind of support? Well, anything we want to! To start to think about having a defined list of services.
PMOs deliver services where it is more effective, efficient or economically advantageous for them to do so than other people within the delivery organisation, or when control needs to be applied.
With the service-driven PMO, there is a menu, a service catalogue that provides a list of services so we can make sure that we have the tools; processes; templates place to support the services. We can identify the skills required and make sure we have them available to deliver the services.
In this evening session, we're looking at the service-based PMO - what they look like; how services are defined and set up; what types of services are most popular based on the different contexts of PMOs - project, programme and portfolio.
