Since we launched House of PMO on the 1st of February and writing this in December and reflecting back, we’ve had a rollercoaster of a ride during 2021.
It’s been a tough year in lots of ways – rescheduling the PMO Conference led to last-minute planning and lots of nerves as we moved into a period of increasing infection rates in the pandemic. But managed it and it was great to see people in person again.
We’ve hosted some in-person events this Autumn in London, trialling them to see what the appetite was for people getting out and about, networking again. That too has been tough – with many people still working from home, there is less spontaneity with after-work events and attendance levels were significantly down. As I write this now, COVID will be keeping our events virtual until at least March 2022.
The House of PMO is committed to providing a full and varied programme of events that appeal to the wide range of PMO professionals. In 2022 we’ll also be hosting two PMO Conference events – one in London and one in Edinburgh. We’re excited to be in a new city and looking forward to seeing all our Scottish friends there too.
This year saw us launch the PMO Competency Framework and two accompanying PMO certifications – Essentials for PMO Administrators and Essentials for PMO Analysts. We couldn’t have done that without the partnership with APMG International who have been incredibly supportive over the year.
Since launch, we have seen the membership numbers steadily rise – including the corporate members. The membership data is showing a good spread of different types and levels of PMO practitioners and will continue to help us create and host events that appeal to the wide membership base. Incidentally, the names Sarah and Andrew are the most popular in PMO.
Next year will see the release of the next two levels of certification – Essentials for PMO Managers and Essentials for PMO Directors. We also have projects in initiation at the moment to bring further benefits to our members in 2022.
All in all, it’s been a busy year for us and we’ve had some great feedback from members that makes it all worthwhile. Here’s to 2022. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at House of PMO.
