When you work in a PMO, it is surprisingly easy for your organisation to become your whole PMO world. You know your governance, your reporting cycle, your templates, your tools and your particular headaches – you know how your organisation does PMO.

But how often do you get to find out how everybody else is doing it?

House of PMO Corporate MembershipThat is one of the reasons the House of PMO exists. Some of the best conversations we have with PMO practitioners start with a very simple question: “How are other PMOs dealing with this?”

It might be resource management, reporting, governance, AI, portfolio prioritisation, benefits, capability development or something entirely new  – sometimes you need a framework, a piece of research or practical guidance or sometimes you just need to talk to another PMO practitioner who gets it.

Being part of a wider community of practice gives PMO people the opportunity to do both – it means stepping outside your own organisation occasionally, seeing what other people are doing and bringing useful ideas back in.

There is another side to this too. PMO development is not only about making the PMO better, it is also about developing the people working within it.

PMO is now very much a career in its own right, from PMO Administrator and Analyst through to PMO Manager and Director. People need opportunities to understand where they are strong, where they want to develop and where their career might take them next.

That is why development is such a big part of House of PMO membership. Corporate members have access to the PMO Competency Framework and online self-assessment, alongside learning that helps people explore the areas they have identified for development.

The question is not simply, “What training course should I do?” It is more useful to ask: “How well am I doing? How do I know? And how can I do better?” That creates a much richer development conversation.

House of PMO Self-Assessment

This is really what sits behind House of PMO Corporate Membership. It is not about giving everyone another login and hoping they remember to use it. It is about giving PMO practitioners somewhere outside their own organisation where they can learn, connect, compare, develop and find practical help.

PMO Corporate MembershipFor one person that might mean working on their own career development – for someone else it might mean looking for ideas on resource management or governance. Another person might attend a session on AI and bring what they have learnt back to the wider team.

Different people will use the membership in different ways, and that is exactly the point. The value comes from giving a whole PMO team access to a wider pool of experience, learning and conversation.

House of PMO was created to provide a home for people working in PMO: somewhere to develop themselves, support the development of others and contribute to the development of the profession.

For an individual PMO practitioner, that means having somewhere to turn beyond their immediate team. For an organisation, it means giving its PMO people access to a much bigger pool of ideas, experience and learning.

Because however good your PMO is, it should not have to figure everything out on its own.
