Last week we opened the doors to the sixth annual PMO Conference after missing a year due to the pandemic. The conference was the first one delivered under the new House of PMO professional body banner and welcomed 300 delegates through the doors.

The event was scaled back due to ongoing social distancing concerns, yet the conference brought together 21 different sessions and 15 different partners showcasing products and services to help PMOs solve their biggest challenges.

The overwhelming response from the delegates was, “It’s good to be back!”

Sessions this year ranged from the central PMO team for the COVID-19 Vaccination Rollout Programme – opening the day with a fantastic keynote showing the sheer might and resilience in supporting that programme – to Parliament UK and their programme for developing the capability of their numerous PMOs. We also heard inspiring stories and insights from Zurich Insurance, Virgin Atlantic, GSK and GCHQ.

Good contents, experienced speakers, enthusiastic participants, smooth registration, pleasant after conference party, a very good experience and learning, thanks!

Themes such as Workshop Facilitation (Penny Pullan); Stakeholder Engagement (Elizabeth Harrin); Governance (Ross Garland); Assurance (Roy Millard); Data and AI (Yoshi Fabyan Soornack); Conflict (Ian Leslie); Resource Management (Greg Bailey) and Agile (Matthew Milsom) were covered.

This year a new concept was introduced the day before the conference to bring delegates together who were interested in a more classroom-based environment where four key topic areas were covered. These included resource management (Stuart Dixon); benefits management (Claire Dellar); dashboard & reporting (John McIntyre) and portfolio management (Holger Huess).

I just wanted to drop you a note to say how much we enjoyed attending the Conference and Learning Day this week.  We honestly got SOOO much from it and have been raving about it ever since returning to work yesterday!  We’re on the verge of being banned from some Teams calls!

Delegates at the PMO Learn! and PMO Conference can also continue their learning by accessing all the recorded sessions from both days. This is also available to online and full members too – a great member benefit!

The video below gives you some idea of the great day we had and we do it all over again in June 2022 – more details soon!
