We began life in 2013 as PMO Flashmob, a lively mix of networking, knowledge sharing and pub conversations. Over time, the community grew, and so did the ambition. In 2021, the House of PMO was born, a natural evolution into a full professional body for PMO people.
Today, we’re driving the development of the PMO profession, offering professional standards, career development, events, and a community that gets what PMO life is really like.
What We’ve Built – So Far
May 2013
PMO Flashmob was launched - first event took place on a boat on the River Thames, six people attended. Events were held in London every month.
June 2015
The first PMO Conference took place in Westminster, London, bringing together 125 PMO professionals together - it was the first conference specifically designed for PMO professionals.
January 2018
Work started on the PMO Competency Framework, a project which would see 50 PMO professionals from across the globe, work together to create something that would change what we would be doing for the PMO community when it was completed three years later.
October 2000
PMO Flashmob was rebranded to the House of PMO following the change of model to a membership based professional association. The change in direction following the pandemic and the decimation of the in-person networking model meant we could carry on developing the work we were doing for the PMO community.
February 2021
The PMO Competency Framework was published and the qualifications were created to align with the role profiles. The training courses for PMO Administrators, PMO Analysts, PMO Managers and PMO Directors were certified by APMG International.
February 2022
The PMO Service Catalogue, originally authored by Stuart Dixon, was acquired by the House of PMO and became a core text alongside the PMO Competency Framework for the House of PMO qualifications.
A new project was launched, run by volunteers, to review and update the PMO Service Catalogue - a project that is still underway today.
November 2022
We introduced the Edinburgh PMO Conference which has seen PMO professionals attending from across the globe, all keen to experience this beautiful city and the laidback vibes of our smaller conference with a big heart!
June 2025
We celebrated ten years of the PMO Conference in London - over that time we've seen over 4000 PMO professionals join us at the conference which just gets better and better every year.
