DESCRIPTION:There comes a point in many PMO careers when a role that once felt challenging starts to feel a little too comfortable. You might be doing the job well\, but learning less or perhaps you’ve taken on responsibilities beyond your job title\, there’s nowhere obvious to progress\, or you’re simply beginning to wonder\, what next? \nOutgrowing your role doesn’t automatically mean it’s time to leave – sometimes the right move is to stretch the role you already have\, reshape it around new responsibilities\, develop a specialist area\, move sideways into a different type of PMO\, or have a conversation about progression and promotion. And sometimes\, of course\, it really is time to move on. \nIn this members-only PMO Career Hour\, we’ll explore how to recognise the signs that you may have outgrown your current role and\, more importantly\, how to work out what to do about it. \nWe’ll look at the different options available within a PMO career\, how to distinguish between being comfortable\, frustrated and genuinely ready for something new\, and how to assess whether the opportunity you need could still exist inside your current organisation. \nWe’ll also talk about the practical career conversations that can feel difficult to start – asking for more responsibility\, making the case for progression\, exploring sideways moves and deciding when staying put may actually be holding you back. \nAs always with Career Hour\, this is an informal and interactive session. This session explores why spending part of a career in a PMO can be a valuable move – not necessarily a permanent one. \nDrawing on the Inside PMO Report 2026: Specialist Roles in the PMO\, the talk will examine the range of generalist and specialist roles available\, from coordination and delivery support through to data and insight\, governance and assurance\, portfolio management\, benefits and digital capability.
