SUMMARY:Behaviours of a Successful PMO (In-Person Event)
DESCRIPTION:What we do\, how we show up\, and why it matters\nWhat really makes a PMO successful? It’s rarely the frameworks or the tools alone – it’s the behaviours behind them. \nThis interactive session explores the behaviours that underpin effective PMOs\, drawing directly from the PMO Competency Framework and insights from the Inside PMO research. We’ll look at behaviour at three levels: \n\nindividual PMO professionals\,\nPMO teams\,\nand the PMO as an organisational entity.\n\nBecause behaviour isn’t just personal. When it’s consistent and collective\, it shapes trust\, influence\, and outcomes. \n  \nWhy behaviour matters\nPMOs don’t operate in a vacuum. Organisational culture\, pressure\, incentives\, and context all influence how a PMO behaves day to day. \nWe’ll explore why behaviours that work well in a portfolio PMO might not land in a project office or a centre of excellence\, and how context changes what ‘good’ looks like. We’ll also look at the unintended behaviours PMOs can drift into under pressure – and what to do about them. \nWe’ll unpack: \n\nWhy some PMO behaviours stick\nWhy others create friction or resistance\nHow small\, intentional shifts can make a big difference to credibility and engagement\n\n  \nWhat to expect\nThis isn’t a one‑way presentation. \nExpect discussion\, reflection\, and shared experience with people who understand the realities of PMO work. You’ll be encouraged to think about your own PMO context\, challenge assumptions\, and learn from others in the room. \nYou’ll leave with practical insight you can apply straight back in your PMO – whether that’s in how you influence\, how your team works together\, or how the PMO is perceived across the organisation. \nExpect discussion\, reflection\, and shared experience – not a one-way presentation. This session is ideal for experienced PMO professionals who want to evolve their practice\, learn from peers\, and leave with practical insight they can apply straight back in their PMO. \nWe’ll keep you fed and watered throughout the session with drinks and nibbles. \n  \nWho’s leading the session\nThis session is led by Carol Hindley and Eileen Roden – co-authors of the PMO Competency FRamework both highly experienced PMO practitioners with a strong focus on how PMOs really operate in practice. They bring deep insight into PMO behaviours\, capability development\, and the realities PMOs face inside complex organisations. Expect practical perspectives\, honest discussion\, and facilitation that encourages shared learning rather than theory-heavy answers. \n  \n\nEvent details\nLocation\nNationwide House\nPipers Way\nSwindon\nSN3 1TA \nTimings\n5.30pm – arrival and networking\n6.00pm – session starts\n8.00pm – finish \nTickets\nFree for members\n£10 + VAT for non‑members \nPlaces are limited. Booking is essential. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Making Change Stick: How PMO Helps Drive Real Results
DESCRIPTION:We’re back in Manchester for a PMO Flashmob and this time we are joined by Louise Barker\, Head of Strategic Delivery and Improvement at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. \nTransformation isn’t just about delivering projects – it’s about doing things better\, together\, for the long run. In this session\, Louise shares how their PMO has brought together project delivery\, change management and quality improvement into one clear approach that actually works. \nYou’ll hear how they: \n\nAlign big change programmes with what really matters to the organisation\nKeep everything on track with a clear governance structure that doesn’t get in the way\nShow real improvements in patient care and service delivery\nSupport people through the change – not just processes – with strong leadership and capability building\n\nWe’ll also explore some of the tools and forums that help make it all happen – like the Change Initiation Forum and benefits sequencing – plus what they’ve learned along the way that others in the NHS (or any complex organisation) can take and use. \nMany thanks to Gravitas Recruitment for hosting the session – join us for learning\, drinks and nibbles!

SUMMARY:EXTERNAL: Birmingham: Microsoft Solution Showcase for a Data-Driven PMO
DESCRIPTION:This is an external sponsored event hosted by Program Framework with the House of PMO presenting as guest speakers. Free to attend\, in-person in Birmingham\, places are limited. \n\nTime & Location\n\n\n17 Oct 2024\, 08:30 – 12:30 \nMeeting Space at 44 Blucher Street\, 44 Blucher St\, Birmingham B1 1QJ\, UK \n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\nModern PMOs are busier than ever. Gartner cites a whole range of Hot Topics for PPM\, such as Demand Management\, Resource Management\, Programme and Portfolio Management\, Reporting & Dashboards\, Strategy realisation and so on. Yet many PMOs are still held back by inefficient manual processes\, disconnected data sets and the ever-ongoing struggle of engaging stakeholders. \n  \n\n\n\nWhat Microsoft cloud services help us digitally transform the PMO? \nFor any organisation already invested in Microsoft cloud\, there is an obvious path: apply the platform you already own to the challenges of the PMO. This event will help you make sense of Microsoft services so you can make a start. The newly branded Microsoft Planner is at the heart of this\, and so are services like Teams\, Power Apps\, Power Automate and Power BI as well as Copilot and other AI services. An amazing platform to unite all your data in one place\, as the basis for collaboration\, automation\, integration and efficiencies delivered through AI! \nHouse of PMO Presentation: Benefits of Friction Between PMO and Delivery Teams \nWe are going to talk about more than just technology: Our friends at House of PMO Eileen Roden and Lindsay Scott will discuss how PMOs continue to be challenged about their value to the organisation. Yet despite that\, more and more PMOs are being set up – so how can that be? Let’s uncover where the real value of the PMO is and address the elephant in the room – the friction that exists between the PMO and delivery teams. The session will discuss the underlying causes for friction\, how to work with it and how friction helps deliver higher value for everyone involved in change delivery. \nWhat you will learn from this event: \n\nWhat are the “digital transformation” tools in the Microsoft platform\nWhy do they make a unique business case for your PMO\nWhat is the “art of the possible”\, and how will AI push this even further\nWhat are the real-world considerations when undertaking a tool implementation in this platform – not least the impact on friction between stakeholders\nHow can you make a start with very little budget\n\nExpect to see plenty of practical demonstrations of real-world applications\, including our highly functional PMO application Power Framework\, built in the Microsoft Power Platform. \nRegister to attend – limited spaces \nRegistrations will be accepted via the Program Framework website here>> \n  \n

SUMMARY:Career Hour - The PMO Career Checklist
DESCRIPTION:Career hour sessions are member-only events which are focused on some aspect of your PMO career. There has been plenty of themes already covered\, you can check them out in the Member’s Library here. \nThe sessions are run every other month and tend to be smaller groups of practitioners joining the session. In addition to the presentation\, there is the expectation that attendees will share their own experiences and insights for the benefit of the wider group. In this way\, career hour sessions are a great way to connect with others as well as taking away valuable career-related insights that could help you in your PMO own career. \nIn this month’s session we’re looking at the PMO Career Checklist. Every PMO professional loves a checklist so why not one which focuses on you? Expect to delve into on-the-job actions\, training\, skills\, promotion\, knowledge\, behaviours\, assessments\, networks\, competences and more! \nRSVP to join the session

SUMMARY:PMO Services - What's Hot and What's Not?
DESCRIPTION:During the PMO Conference in London this year we like to gain insights from the PMO professionals attending and use a number of different interactive boards to gain the different perspectives on a particular theme. \nDuring this year’s conference we honed in on PMO Services. \nYou might already be familiar with the PMO Service Catalogue and the volunteer project currently running. We’ve previously run many sessions in this area because the ‘service-led’ approach to the PMO is so popular. \nIn this session\, we’ll be sharing the insights from all those who participated – they were asked: \n\nWhich services do you provide that are the most popular or ‘hottest’?\nWhich services do you provide that are least popular or the ‘coldest’?\nAnd ‘I want to deliver this service but don’t. . . . . why?’\n\nPlenty of insights were provided\, and we’ll review those and provide some further practical advice on what we uncover. \nThis is a great session to learn more about PMO services\, what others are doing in their organisations and have the opportunity to provide your insights too!
